Simply put keywords are what you put into the search engine when you want to find something. You may have plugged something like “making money on the internet” to find this page. That would be the keyword. Pretty simple.

Ranking

Ranking means ranking in the search engine.  Every website wants to be #1 for the keyword that they are trying to rank for. Once again this page would be trying to rank for “making money on the internet” or “first step to making money on the internet”.  The reason that we want to rank for these keywords is because this is the information that we are providing and you are going to be interested in what we have to say and offer. This is why anyone would want to rank in the search engines.

Can I Use Any Keyword?

Yes, you can use any keyword but that’s not going to help you very much if you can’t rank for it. You need to make sure who your competition is and if you can beat them out or not. One of the ways that you can check is how high their page rank is, how many backlinks they have as well as the strength of competition.
